Frequently asked questions about skips

Q: What size skip do I need?

A: We have a wide variety of skip sizes available. Please refer to the size & contence guide below.

Q: Where can I have my skip dropped?

A: You can have it dropped on your driveway, garden or building site, basically any privately owned land.  You will require a permit if placing a skip on the public highway which we can arrange.

Q: Do I need permission from the Council to put a skip on the road?

A: Yes. You will need a permit from the Council.  We will arrange this but there will be a charge for the permit.

Q: Are there any restrictions on what I can put into a skip?

A: Yes. You cannot use a skip to dispose of asbestos, plasterboard, fridge/freezers, car batteries, tyres, gas cylinders, paint tins (empty or full), fluorescent tubes, hazardous liquids, television sets, or computer monitors. This is constantly changing in line with EA legislation, If unsure please phone us for details.

Q: What is the price for a skip

A: This depends on what is being put into it, where your location is and if you require a permit.  Some skips are cheaper if the waste is not mixed; example, wood, soil, bricks, hard core, general waste.

Q: How full can I load the skip?

A: The only requirement is that you don't overload the skip. The skips must be level loaded to ensure that they can be picked up by the skip lorry.

Q: How long can I keep the skip?

A: Skips can usually be kept on site for up to 10 days. However individual requirements can be accommodated dependent on availability.

Q: How do I book a skip?

A: Our friendly helpful staff will be happy to take your call from Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm.

Q: What happens to my waste after it is taken away in a skip?

A: The waste will be taken to the local landfill where it is disposed of in the most environmentally friendly way possible.
